What the R Buys You: A Fence That Positions Itself
The R in the name is SCM’s READY control. Enter a rip width on the keypad and the fence drives itself there, so the cut widths a shop uses every day are recalled instead of re-measured. The fence system runs on:
- Three positioning modes: continuous, incremental, or automatic
- Memory for up to 99 stored programs
- A recirculating ball screw drive with encoder position readout
- A fence assembly that lifts off entirely to clear the carriage for crosscuts

Pick Your Power: Single Phase or Three Phase
The SI 4K R comes in two configurations, and the choice is simply what power your shop has. The single-phase version runs a 5.5 HP main motor on 220 V household-style power. The three-phase version runs 8 HP, and costs a thousand dollars less. If your building has three-phase service, you get the stronger machine and keep the difference; if it does not, the single-phase version spares you a phase converter.
A Dado-Capable European Slider
European sliding table saws rarely offer dado capability. The SI 4K R ships with SCM’s DADO SET capability built in: the arbor accepts a dado tool up to 200 mm (7.8 in) in diameter and 19 mm (0.69 in) wide in place of the main blade. For cabinet shops that cut grooves and rabbets the American way, that removes the usual compromise of owning a slider for panels and keeping a cabinet saw around just for dados.
The Nova Carriage: Guaranteed for Ten Years
The anodized aluminum carriage rides mechanically fixed, hardened steel guides, and its closed lattice cross-section is built for rigidity with minimal flex. SCM guarantees the carriage sliding system for ten years. It locks at any point along its travel, which turns the carriage into a solid work surface when you need one, and the squaring frame carries a telescopic swinging arm and an idle roller so a full sheet loads without a second pair of hands.
Scoring, Blades, and the Numbers That Matter
An independent powered scoring unit, with its own 1 HP motor and front-of-machine adjustments, leaves a clean underside on veneered panels. The saw ships with a 315 mm main blade and 120 mm scoring blade and accepts main blades up to 400 mm (15.75 in), for 136 mm (5.3 in) of cut at 90 degrees. The carriage squares 3,200 x 3,200 mm, a full 10.5 ft stroke, and the fence rips to 1,270 mm (50 in). SCM’s Thundercut app, activated with a QR code shipped on the machine, optimizes cutting lists and walks the operator through the sequence cut by cut.
