Choosing a Laguna CO2 Laser
The PL 12|20 is the desktop entry point: 115V single-phase, 12″x20″ work envelope, and a 12-inch table lift. It’s sized for personalization work, small-batch cutting, and shops adding laser capability without floor space for a full-size machine.
The SmartShop Laser MX steps up to a 24″x36″ table at 760 lbs on HiWin linear guide rails. Auto-focusing laser head and auxiliary exhaust ports are standard. This is the mid-tier production machine for sign shops and custom fabricators running consistent daily volume.
The EX and EX-C both run 150W tubes on 36″x51″ tables. The EX-C adds camera registration software compatible with AI and DXF formats, critical for cut-to-print work on printed acrylics, leather, and pre-printed substrates.

Laguna CO2 lasers cut and engrave wood, MDF, acrylic, leather, fabric, rubber, cork, and most non-metallic materials. For metal cutting, a fiber laser is required. CO2 lasers can engrave coated or anodized metals.
What is the difference between the Laguna EX and EX-C CO2 laser?
Both use a 150W tube on a 36″x51″ table. The EX-C adds camera registration for cut-to-print work — locating and cutting around pre-printed artwork on acrylic, leather, and similar substrates. If you’re cutting from blank sheets only, the EX is sufficient.
