Laguna Panel Saws (Sliding Table Saws)
Laguna makes two panel saw families. The P12 series covers high-volume sheet processing in three material-clearing capacities: 5, 8, or 10 feet of stock. The P14 series runs a 14-inch main blade and a 1HP integral scoring blade for clean cuts in laminated and veneered sheet goods, available in a DRO-controlled version and a fully CNC-controlled version with servo fence positioning. Both families are sliding table machines where the workpiece travels past the blade on a guided rail system.

The P12 Series
The P12 panel saws come in three configurations: the P12|5, P12|8, and P12|10. The numbers indicate material-clearing capacity: 5, 8, or 10 feet of stock can pass through the cut. For most cabinet shops cutting standard 4×8 sheets, the P12|8 is the natural fit.
The P14 Series
Both P14 models run a 14-inch main blade and a 1HP scoring blade. The scoring blade makes a shallow preliminary cut on the panel’s underside before the main blade passes, eliminating tearout on laminated and veneered sheet goods. The result is clean faces on both sides without secondary cleanup.
The P14|10 runs at 7.5HP on three-phase power with a 51-inch rip capacity. Blade height is motorized, tilt is digital, and cutting width uses a manual control with digital readout.
The P14|12XC adds a CNC touch-screen and servo-driven ball screw for fully automated fence positioning. Where the P14|10 sets the fence manually with digital confirmation, the P14|12XC moves to a programmed dimension automatically. For shops running large production quantities with frequent size changes, that difference compounds over a shift.
Panel Saw vs. Table Saw
On a table saw, the operator feeds the panel against a stationary fence, typically with a second person supporting the trailing edge. On a panel saw, the workpiece sits on a sliding table that travels past the blade. Larger panels stay controlled throughout the cut without a helper, and the guided rail produces more consistent results than a free-hand push. For shops cutting full sheets daily, the workflow difference is significant.
Frequently Asked Questions
What panel saws does Laguna make?
Laguna makes the P12 series (P12|5, P12|8, P12|10) and the P14 series (P14|10 and P14|12XC). Both are sliding table machines. The P14 series adds a 14-inch blade and integral 1HP scoring motor for clean cuts in laminated sheet goods.
What is the difference between the Laguna P14|10 and P14|12XC?
Both share the same 14-inch blade, 1HP scoring motor, and 51-inch rip capacity. The P14|10 uses a manual fence with digital readout and motorized blade height. The P14|12XC upgrades to a CNC touch-screen and servo-driven ball screw for fully programmed fence positioning.
