Laguna Waterjet CNC Machines
The Laguna SmartJet is an abrasive CNC waterjet cutter that works on materials no laser or plasma can handle cleanly: metal, stone, glass, ceramics, composites, and thick plastic. Precision ground ball screws on all axes hold positional accuracy to +/-.003″ with +/-.001″ repeatability. The machine includes a diamond orifice abrasive cutting head, a 500-pound garnet hopper, a 42,000 BTU closed-loop industrial chiller, a 24-inch control screen, and a mobile operator station. Onsite installation and training are included.

The Laguna SmartJet: Any Material, No Heat
The SmartJet cuts with high-pressure water mixed with garnet abrasive. No heat, no heat-affected zone, no thermal distortion on the cut edge. That makes it the right tool for materials that laser or plasma cutting would damage: hardened steel, titanium, stone, glass, ceramics, carbon fiber, and heat-sensitive composites.

Frequently Asked Questions
What materials can a CNC waterjet cut?
CNC waterjet machines cut virtually any material: steel, aluminum, titanium, stainless, glass, stone, marble, granite, ceramics, carbon fiber, fiberglass, rubber, foam, and wood. The absence of heat makes waterjet the preferred method for heat-sensitive materials and applications where edge quality matters without secondary finishing.
What is the difference between waterjet and plasma cutting?
Plasma uses ionized gas and generates heat, creating a heat-affected zone that can distort thin or heat-sensitive materials. Waterjet uses no heat — cuts are clean with no HAZ, no warping, and no hardening at the cut edge. Plasma is faster on thick mild steel; waterjet is the right choice for materials plasma can’t handle cleanly or for applications where edge quality is critical.
