Laguna Lathes
Laguna’s Revo series covers four sizes from the 12-inch benchtop to the 24-inch swing floor model, all with PWM variable-speed control that holds torque at low RPM. That matters most when roughing large, unbalanced blanks or working wet wood where a conventional motor would stall. The 18|36 ships in both 110V and 220V versions, making it practical for shops without a dedicated high-current circuit.

Revo Lathe Sizes and Applications
The Revo 12|16 covers spindle work, small bowls, and shorter stock. Its 12-inch swing and 16-inch outboard capacity handle most hobby and light professional turning applications on a single 110V circuit.
The Revo 15|24 steps to 15-inch swing and 24 inches between centers for mid-size bowls and longer spindle work, still on 110V.
The Revo 18|36 is the most versatile size in the lineup: 18-inch swing, 36 inches between centers, and 135 to 3,500 RPM. It’s available in both a 110V version and a 220V version. The 110V option is worth noting for turners setting up in spaces without a high-current circuit. This size handles serious bowl work, furniture components, and hollow forms without compromising speed range.
The Revo 24|36 runs on 220V with 24-inch swing for large platters, oversized hollow forms, and production bowl turning. If you’re regularly working blanks over 18 inches in diameter, this is the right machine.
Why PWM Speed Control Matters
Standard AC motors lose torque as RPM drops. PWM (pulse-width modulation) control compensates by maintaining power delivery across the full speed range. The practical result: you can start a large, unbalanced blank at low RPM without the motor laboring to hold speed. Turners roughing wet wood or freshly cut material notice this most. The Revo 12|16 starts as low as 50 RPM, slow enough to safely bring a significant out-of-round piece into balance before stepping up the speed.
Frequently Asked Questions
What wood lathes does Laguna make?
Laguna makes the Revo series in four sizes: the 12|16, 15|24, 18|36, and 24|36. All use PWM variable-speed control. The 18|36 is available in both 110V and 220V configurations.
Is the Laguna Revo 18|36 good for bowl turning?
Yes. The 18|36 covers most bowl and hollow form work with 18-inch swing and 36 inches between centers, and the PWM variable speed holds torque at the low RPM needed for roughing large blanks.
