A tilting spindle lets one tool cut a profile square or cut it leaning over. The Class TI 120 tilts 45 degrees either side of vertical and backs that with an 11 HP motor, five spindle speeds, and a 1,200 x 810 mm worktable. Tilting 45 Degrees Each Way
The spindle tilts from -45° to +45°, a full 90 degrees of adjustment. SCM carries it in a cast-iron column, with a cast-iron cup around the spindle that keeps shavings and dust out of the mechanics underneath. Profiling tools up to 250 mm (9.8 in) in diameter run on the spindle, and tooling up to 320 x 60 mm (12.6 x 2.3 in) retracts completely under the worktable.
Setup From the Front of the Machine
The hand wheels sit on the front face of the machine and carry mechanical decimal readouts, and the two aluminum fence tables adjust mechanically with connecting bars between them. SCM also offers a shaper fence with mechanical programming and digital readouts, which it says positions the two tables to a tenth of a millimeter and removes the need for a test run. That programming fence is an option, though, rather than part of the configuration we quote here.
