SCM Class SI X Double Tilting Sliding Table Saw

The Class SI X is the double tilting saw in SCM’s Class range. The blade leans 46 degrees left and 46 degrees right, so you can cut a bevel running the wrong way in one setup instead of flipping the workpiece and hoping the second setup matches. It carries a 550 mm blade on the largest cast-iron table SCM fits to a Class saw. The sections below cover the double tilt, the eye-S console, and how it differs from the L’invincibile SI X above it.

Double Tilt Without Losing Blade Height

Blade diameter and tilt range usually work against each other, because the further a blade leans, the less of it clears the table. The Class SI X carries a 550 mm blade through the full range, leaving 200 mm (7.9 in) of cut at 90 degrees, 130 mm (5.1 in) at plus 45, and 105 mm (4.1 in) at minus 45. The saw unit uses a self-tensioning transmission belt, and an AP system automatically positions the overhead guard based on the blade angle, so changing angles doesn’t require re-setting the guard by hand.

The eye-S Console

The Class SI X is controlled from a mobile panel carrying SCM’s eye-S console: a 10-inch color touchscreen running the Maestro interface, on an articulated arm that swings horizontally to suit the operator. It handles:

  • Connectivity across machines on the same company network, with Industry 4.0 preset
  • Shared work programs and a common tools database
  • Activity monitoring and reporting on machine use
  • Connection to the SCM Thundercut optimizer app
  • Self-diagnosis, teleservice and a direct link to troubleshooting

The control also drives the inverter for blade speed and scoring unit alignment, and it prompts the operator with the right settings for a given cutting configuration rather than leaving the arithmetic to them.

Class SI X or L’invincibile SI X

The L’invincibile SI X is the same double tilting architecture at the top of SCM’s classical range, and every mechanical figure that matters is identical: 550 mm blade, plus and minus 46 degrees, 200/130/105 mm of cut. What the L’invincibile adds is the console, a 15-inch eye-S rather than the Class machine’s 10-inch, along with the CompeX squaring device and three DRO stops. If those do not change how you work, the Class SI X gives you the same cut for roughly $10,000 less.

The Class Carriage

The carriage uses closed reticular geometry with steel guides held by SCM’s own mechanical fixing method. The arch-ground steel slideways maintain a tolerance of 0.05 mm across the entire carriage length, carry four times the load of conventional guides, and keep dust out of the running surfaces. SCM guarantees the carriage sliding system for ten years.
