Coima USA CTA GM Moving Grate Biomass Boiler
Bark, wood chips, and moist sawdust are the CTA GM’s diet. Its burner is an inclined moving grid powered by a hydraulic pusher: a piston, driven by a hydraulic control unit, walks the fuel down the incline, and the material dries as it travels and burns completely, leaving no unburnt residues, per Coima.
Fed and Aired Automatically
An automatic feeding system meters the air-fuel mixture continuously at variable flow rates, while combustion air is distributed evenly across the combustion zones. Coima credits that pairing with high efficiency across the whole thermal cycle.
The Platform Underneath
The GM burner sits on Coima’s horizontal CTA boiler platform: steel sheet structure with tensile bars against thermal stress and pressure, a wet-walled combustion chamber lined with 65% alumina refractory brick, operating temperatures of 800 to 1200°C (about 1,470 to 2,190°F), side air entrances, an openable door for large fuel and grate cleaning, and a horizontal heat exchanger of steel tubes immersed in water. (The same platform runs a screw-fed burner as the CTA, and dual grates as the CTA FEM.)
