Coima USA CTA FEM Dual-Grate Biomass Boiler
MDF and treated wood scraps are hard fuel: moist, corrosive, and prone to leaving residues behind. The CTA FEM is the CTA-family boiler built for exactly that duty, with a burner split into two combustion areas, one on a fixed grid and one on a movable grid.
Two Zones, Two Grates
The movable grid is made of chrome cast iron elements specified for corrosive and high-moisture fuels, MDF included. It carries moist and treated wood scraps through correct combustion while moving the ashes, under control, toward the extractor, which Coima notes avoids the crystallization of combustion residues.
Ash Out Automatically
A dedicated screw extractor removes the ashes automatically. Feeding is likewise automatic: the air-fuel mixture is metered continuously at variable flow rates, with combustion air distributed evenly across the combustion zones, a combination Coima credits with high efficiency across the thermal cycle.
The Platform Underneath
Like its siblings (the screw-fed CTA and the moving-grate CTA GM), the FEM runs on Coima’s horizontal boiler platform: steel sheets with tensile bars, a wet-walled combustion chamber lined with 65% alumina refractory brick, 800 to 1200°C operating temperatures (about 1,470 to 2,190°F), side air entrances, an openable loading and cleaning door, and a horizontal heat exchanger of steel tubes immersed in water.
